It grows fast, has a light transportation weight and can be flatpacked. It’s strong, cheap and easy to work with. Bamboo looks like an ideal material for a green designer to work with. Alexander Pelikan added home assembly and lack of glue to his ClicFurniture. Might I add ingenuity to describe his work?

Tomatoes, today’s bread, ripe fruits and everything else marketpeople will throw away at 1700 hours, form the ingredients for the Leftovers restaurant. Spiced up with herbs found in the forest where the restaurant is located, you can eat a 3 course dinner for only 10 euros at the picnicpyramide.

The installations of Daan Roosegaarde have been playing with people in public space for a few years now. After the succesful Dune 4.0, Daan will release Liquid Space 6.0 end of this year. The sensual sculpture measures 4 x 4 x 4 meters of tubes, sensors, LED’s, mechanism, embedded electronics and software that react to touch and speech.

Elizabeth struggles with her fear of spiders. Working with designer Jonny Wray, she found that she’s mostly concerned with the places where spiders might be found. She cannot control when they come, but Wray with An anxious imagination found a way of physically manipulating where the scare will hit her.

As a preview of Dutch Designweek, the graduates of Eindhoven’s Design Academy showed their best work. Thomas Traxler puts his benches and lampshades in the spotlight. But did he make it himself? The Idea of a Tree functions as a sun powered spinning wheel. The colors are chosen by the passing of the day.
